On Wednesday 8th February construction workers across the UK should be prepared to show their CSCS skills card if requested as an industry wide skills card audit is planned across the UK.
Members of Build UK and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association have been told to check all cards on that day to ensure they are up to date and of the smart card variety.
The smart card audit seeks to promote the value of the smart technology used by the Construction skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and affiliates to drive increased industry uptake and highlight any expired or fraudulent cards.
Build UK Chief Executive Suzannah Nicol said: “The smart card audit is a great chance for us to understand what steps we need to take to fully integrate smart technology into the industry’s daily practices. By emphasising the benefits of smart cards and driving increased industry uptake, Build UK and its members can continue to lead positive change in the industry.”
This audit comes just days after a man was sentenced to six months in jail for using a false name to obtain a fake CSCS card.
