On Wednesday 8th February, an industry-wide skills card audit is planned. Construction workers will have to show their CSCS skills card.
All construction workers will have their cards checked by members of Build UK and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association. This is to ensure they are up to date as well as being the smart card variety.
The smart card audit is due to promote the value of the smart technology used by the Construction skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and affiliates to drive increased industry uptake and highlight any expired or fraudulent cards.
Build UK Chief Executive Suzannah Nicol said: “The smart card audit is a great chance for us to understand what steps we need to take to fully integrate smart technology into the industry’s daily practices. By emphasising the benefits of smart cards and driving increased industry uptake, Build UK and its members can continue to lead positive change in the industry.”
A man was sentenced to six months in jail after obtaining a CSCS card by using a false name. This audit came days after.
