You will be working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a company that have been operating in the Construction industry for over 75 years. Their core work is within the refurbishment sector, also with the expertise to undertake various internal and external restoration projects. They have 2 offices, Head Office is based in Bishops Stortford and this gives them easy access to London, which is where the vast majority of their projects are.
If you are successful in securing this Assistant Quantity Surveyor's role then you will be based at their Head Office in Bishops Stortford. You will work alongside another Assistant Quantity Surveyor and report into the Operations Director & Managing Director. You will be tasked with producing tenders, assisting with monthly reports and attending site meetings and getting involved with procurement and estimating. The job will require you to go out on site each work and check up on the progress of the projects, meet with the sub-contractors and client to ensure it is running to budget and to time.
Produce accurate information for Contribution Forecasts and Monthly Cost/Value Reports
To efficiently report on Site Progress and ensure correct procedure are implemented for Extension of Time applications and recovery of Loss and Expense
Maximise profitability and cash benefit for the Company
Ensure Contract Valuations are prepared in accordance with current ruling Company Policy
Control and administer sub-Contract accounts
Re-measure of all Site works
Liaise with Contracts Management on Cost Control and all financial matters relating to the Contract
Ensure Architects Instructions and Variations are obtained and properly valued
Progress settlement of Final Accounts
Efficiently procure sub-contracts
Education / Qualifications:
A Degree qualification in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying is highly advantaegous but not essential. As a minimum, an HNC or HND in Construction or Surveying is required. Experience wise, 1 year working for a main contractor on refurbishment projects is preferred. A UK Driving License is required for site meetings.
