Salary: £40000 - £50000 per annum + extensive bonuses
A successful, family owned business with a reputation for delivering high-end new homes and quality general building work across Essex, this ambitious dual developer / contractor have been servicing the local area for over 14 years and are on a fast upward growth trajectory, with new business acquisitions within the group offering new opportunities to secure exciting building projects.
With the Group Managing Director now responsible for a growing portfolio of companies, a unique and sought after opportunity has arisen for a commercially-minded candidate (ideally with a strong surveying/estimating/project management skillset) to be responsible for the day-to-day activity of the construction division, driving the business' growth forward, delivering exceptional-quality builds and identifying new areas of opportunity to explore.
Working side-by-side with the MD, you'll have overall control of the division, involving yourself in all aspects of daily life; providing direction and support to office and site based staff, tendering for new works opportunities and maintaining a high standard of efficiency and quality throughout all of the business' processes.
- Oversee all tender activity for new works opportunities, including the pricing, preparation and submission of bids. - Financial management of a range of general building projects, from in-house housing developments through to extensions, commercial new builds and refurbishments and in-house groundworks. - Project management of all schemes including the programming of works and operating alongside the group's architectural design company to troubleshoot issues and deliver functional, standout projects. - Negotiating with sub-contractors and suppliers and acting as the focal point for the business when dealing with external consultants and stakeholders. - Identifying new opportunities for revenue generation and pursuing them, building a strategy for growth in areas of high margin. - Manage, coach and support office-based staff and on-site delivery teams, plus identifying new talent to bring into the business should needs arise. - Working with the Managing Director to install business targets; subsequently setting out to achieve these targets.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (or equivalent qualification) is highly desirable. - Previous experience at an operational management level, ideally from a main contracting background where you have delivered new homes - In-depth knowledge of building and planning regulations, a confident manner in dealing with external consultants and authorities - The ability to generate new business through new and existing contacts within the industry to continue the business' growth
