My Client is a leading independent hirer and manufacturer of modular and portable buildings, offering a wide range of sustainable building solutions for both the public and private sectors. The Client operates nationally with over 30 depots and divisional offices. Due to the natural growth of the business, they are now looking for a Contracts Manager based from their offices in Glasgow.
You will be working on a number of specialist off-site design and build projects. These will range in value from £250k to £7.5m. You will work closely with the Contracts Director and take an active role in the pre-construction and planning phases of the projects, managing the construction phase from inception to handover.
Manage projects to programme/budget
Managing site specific projects alongside the site managers.
Review, update and baseline contract programmes regularly to manage actual programme.
Provide regular progress reports to internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure all activities on site are managed in line with the costed Preliminaries Schedule
Ensure site instructions are received for works additional to scope of works.
Attend site progress meetings with client/customer representative(s) as required.
Liaise with commercial department with regard to variation and cost issues.
Ensure projects are completed to agreed specification and quality
Inspect quality of work as sites progress.
Feedback to factory to improve quality/level of work achieved prior to delivery.
Liaise with client in determining quality and snagging regime.
Feedback issues to enable design and quality improvements.
Manage and coordinate subcontractors to achieve the above
Ensure contractors complete work in line with their method statements/risk assessments.
Ensure adequate resource available to achieve all programme requirements.
Discuss performance with site manager(s) to assess competence.
Ensure feedback to Contracts Director at all stages of quality/level of work and design defects
Must have experience of managing Modular Build projects
Must be familiar with and understand both JCT & NEC3 contracts
Must have experience in Design and Build Contracts
Must have strong communication skills
Must have a good understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental site issues Must have strong customer facing skills
