A young and dynamic contractor require an experienced Design Manager to join their growing team.
Working on projects across England on a mix of M&E, Energy and Utility projects across Commercial, Educational, Industrial and Residential works.
Salary on offer of £50,000+ plus package
My client is an energy infrastructure specialist based in the North West and operating across the UK. They have an in-house design and delivery team which enables the company to provide their clients will full turn-key solutions. The company offers their partners Energy Management, Renewable, Utilities and M&E Services.
Based in their North West head office you will be working on a number of projects across the UK up to the value of £20M.
The key purpose of this role is to manage the design team and to lead on technical support across the companies groups.
The company wants to invest heavily in their design and technical ability and are therefore looking for a Design Manager to join their team.
Your duties in this role will include (but not be limited to):-
Managing design solutions for electrical, mechanical and energy projects;
Responsibility for design, surveying and technical work, representing the company on all technical matters;
Managing and growing the Design/Technical team - developing the teams potential;
Managing and implementing CDM Regulations and leading the management of principle design duties;
Managing review meetings, progress and performance reporting;
Developing project programmes in co-ordination with the project delivery team;
Working alongside project managers to ensure scheme designs are value engineered and adhere to client specifications;
Ascertaining client requirements either through referring to specification documents or visiting sites;
Identifying project operational requirements and proposing appropriate solutions;
Ensuring designs are value engineered;
Managing financial budgets and programmes for design activities;
Assisting with tender documentation, quotes and contracts in conjunction with business development.
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience working for an M&E/Energy Contractor as a design/pre-construction/technical manager is essential for this role, minimum 5 years' experience.
Experience in district heating, peaking plants, combined heat and power is desirable and a minimum HNC level qualification in Electrical or Building Services is essential.
You should also be confident in using CAD and/or BIM as well as all MS Office suites including Project, Project Server and SharePoint.
In return for your skills there is a basic salary on offer of £50,000 - £60,000 together with car allowance, bonus scheme, healthcare and pension scheme.
