The Role - Engineering Manager (Transport & Refrigeration)
The successful candidate will be responsible for the Technical and Development function within the business. The overall emphasis being to drive up standards of quality, in collaboration with Manufacturing and customers.
Overseeing all aspects of Design and Development, maintaining thorough and well organised designs / drawings for all works orders and development activity.
Identifying and executing any update of designs / drawings, to minimise ill-fitting kits / installations. This needs to be actioned quickly, in collaboration with Manufacturing.
Overseeing the creation of suitable technical specifications against all quotations, while ensuring customer responsiveness.
Overseeing transport refrigeration unit installation, technically, in so far as is necessary to drive up standards of workmanship, identifying those that are below the standard required.
Providing continued Fridging technical guidance and develop fitting instructions (standardised practice) in collaboration with Manufacturing.
Participating and/or leading structured continuous improvement programmes, in pursuit of quality. This extends to problem solving activity in response to internal defects and external customer complaints.
Assisting, technically, as required with Type Approvals.
Assisting Manufacturing with issues relating to site services and general preventative maintenance. In this respect you will highlight processes that require periodic maintenance and document procedures accordingly.
Providing after sales technical help, visiting customers as required to assist with tailored solutions, to generate business, as well as quality issues / warranty claims.
Developing and Managing the Service Agreement / Warranty business, in line with the plan / ambition for the business.
The Person - Engineering Manager (Transport & Refrigeration)
Ideally from within the industry
Experience with vehicle conversions or commercial vehicle body building (inc. AutoDesk CAD / design)
Ideally experienced in fridging or auto electrics or Controller Area Network (CAN bus) technology
Able to manage and meet objectives via a team
Good mechanical aptitude
