Salary: £40000 - £45000 per annum + plus company benefits
My client is a reputable regional contractor, who is currently recruiting for an Estimator following both continued expansion and increased workload.
Based out of their Lancashire office, you will be supporting the Pre-Construction team to prepare tenders to secure projects including competitive design and build tenders, for new build and refurbishment works across the North West.
The projects you will be involved with, will remain varied and interesting, and will span across a variety of sectors including; Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Retail and Industrial and will range in value from £500k - £5m.
Projects will include New Build Schools and University Buildings, D&B Student Accommodation, Hospital Refurbishments and New Build Healthcare Centres, to name a few.
Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will provide the provision of pre and post contract duties including procurement, estimating, negotiating target costs with contractors, input into the Risk & Value management processes, benchmarking and post contract cost management. Other duties will include:-
Assist with Approvals process to ensure that all bids have the necessary approvals in accordance with company procedures
Prepare detailed analytical tenders and estimates from first principles within defined timescales
Ensure that estimating procedures are followed in the production of tenders
Liaise with other members of the Estimating and Operational teams to deliver high quality estimates and tender submissions
Maintain and update records of tenders; management of change control in Tender
Prepare a comprehensive briefing pack for the Operational Project Teams on all successful tenders
Ensure all tenders are reviewed to identify lessons learned
Participate in the detailed risk assessment process on all bids
Ensure all tenders are fully reviewed by the Senior Manager/Director with appropriate financial authority
Develop and maintain a library of outputs and pricing data
Record time spent on each tender using the bidding time recording system
Support operational projects when required
Act as bid manager where required depending on the value and complexity of the tender
Generation of Tender handover packs produced for operations team
To undertake, oversee assist with the management of and production, submission and negotiation of estimates and tenders
Skills and Expertise Required
To be considered for the role you must have previous estimating experience with a main contractor, ideally with contracts up to the value of £3m and should be proficient in using Conquest and Excel.
You need to be commercially astute and have the ability to work both alone and as part of a larger team, possessing excellent communication skills.
