We are looking to recruit a temporary to permanent Housing Support Officer for a Social Housing contract based in Luton, LU1. Our Client is a National Social Housing Contractor looking for a reliable and experienced Housing Support Officer for their contract in Luton.
Reporting to the Service Manager, your main objective is to provide a comprehensive & effective housing service to residents in line with the organisations' policies and procedures.
To be the main point of contact with the Council
Taking responsibility for the building and its tenants to ensure an effective service
Recording and take appropriate action with any Health and Safety tasks
Taking reasonable care of the Health and Safety of yourself and others who may be affected
To liaise with other stakeholders including contractors and local council, to ensure the needs of the tenants are met and any concerns are relayed to the appropriate support service.
Moving tenants into the hostel and demonstrating how to use the equipment in line with health and safety
To regularly visit all residents to support them to maintain their accommodation
To promote and empower independence and coping strategies.
To regularly assess the physical and emotional well-being of supported residents, whilst giving appropriate advice and encouraging residents to accept support.
Initiate and coordinate packages of care and support with the appropriate services, providing written reports as required and arranging visits and services where necessary.
To assist individuals to develop daily living skills and involvement in the community.
To assist the income collections officer to manage the level of rent arrears and ensure effective collection of any rent arrears.
This will include regular monitoring of accounts, carrying out home visits, collecting rent and top ups, agreeing repayment methods and serving legal notices.
To investigate, collect information & report on incidents of nuisance or antisocial behaviour.
To be responsible for identifying breaches of the tenancy agreement and taking appropriate action to resolve those breaches and if necessary liaise with the correct authorities Collecting and arranging payment plans when recharging for tenant damages.
To provide excellent customer service at all times
To assist with the life skills training and timetables for organising this
To monitor the progress of tenants and to report back to your line manager and council
To effectively manage the building, including ensuring repairs and maintenance issues are reported and follow up to ensure repair is completed by liaising with the repairs department
Take ownership to ensure you have full knowledge of all services to meet individual needs
