My client is a reputable 5* regional housebuilder with sites nationwide. Specialising in 2 - 6 bed homes; our client currently has a requirement at their head office in South Yorkshire for a Land Estimator due to business expansion.
As a Land Estimator, you will report to the Land Director. The main purpose of the role is to prioritise and organise land purchases. It is essential that you have excellent communication skills and are a confident negotiator, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role; preferably in the housebuilding sector.
Responsibility for all commercial and contractual aspects of projects from negotiation of land purchase, through to completion
Identifying / appraising / negotiating land opportunities / purchases / material buying
Critiquing / value engineering civil and structural engineering solutions
Preparing budgets for land department, construction/build team and sales/marketing teams relating to developments
Compare new build and second hand sales prices to provide support to sales values in the land bid
Appointment of sub-contractors and suppliers, including tender analysis and order placements
Carrying our viabilities for land bids
Monitoring cost changes on live land appraisals and updating cost reports
Build and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external; including land owners, agents, consultants, local authorities, legal advisers, competitors and supply chain
Preparation of detailed monthly cost reports / information packs etc for meetings
Monitor prelim budgets, along with construction, sales/marketing and land budgets
Monitor site performance against original plans, budgets and financial targets
Chairing meetings, preparing agendas and minutes for internal and external meetings
Participating in corporate entertaining / attending events on behalf of the company
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of land surveying achieved within a similar environment; with relevant academic or professional qualifications (HND or degree level).
You should have a good knowledge of housebuilding and be able to work with the technical and commercial teams, and also outside consultants, to put together a forecast cost budget for housing sites, identifying any risks and opportunities
You must have a full driving licence, as travel will be required to sites occasionally.
The salary on offer is up to £45k + package.
