A national contractor seeks to appoint a Graduate/Junior Land & Planning Manager to be based in their Manchester office.
The company are Regeneration specialist providing regeneration solutions for communities UK wide. Their projects range from social housing refurbishments, new build Affordable Housing, Extra Care Facilities, Public Sector refurbishment and new build schemes.
Reporting to the Land and Partnership Director you will be responsible for:
" To assist the land and development team in sourcing, appraising, progressing and acquiring residential land opportunities. " Appraisal of sites across the North West that have the potential for development " Ascertaining ownership and exploring the opportunity to purchase land " Assessing planning potential and identifying constraints to developing the land " Involved in sites which are more advanced in terms of allowing the estimating team to finalise costs on a more detailed basis by feeding in a thorough breakdown of on-site parameters " Heavy focus on the planning aspects of land and assessing the planning potential along with identifying opportunities for land which may achieve planning " Opportunity to be involved within a range of land development related disciplines will be wide and varied.
Role will be office based hours from 8am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday but some travel to sites and meetings could be expected with all travel expenses reimbursable, with the exception of getting to and from the place of work from the applicant's home residence.
Skills & Experience required
To be successful for this role you must recently have completed a minimum of degree level course within the faculty of the Built Environment. Ideally candidates will have a focus on either planning, real estate, construction, surveying or engineering.
" Must have a passion for working within the field of Construction and in particular residential development. " Other than an academic awareness of the subject they must have a broader general knowledge and awareness of the industry and the current climate in relation to housing. " Must be a good communicator, take instruction well but be able to work independently once given a clear goal. " Confidence, professionalism and independent thinking are important characteristics for the candidate we are looking for. " Willingness to take on a variety of roles which may be beyond the scope of current comfort levels. " A proactive attitude and the ability to work to deadlines within a team environment
