The Role - Production Planner
We seek to recruit a Production Planner to join our operational team and to manage the scheduling of the production floor. You will work closely with all functions of the business to ensure that production orders are carefully scheduled, ensuring a balanced plan that satisfies delivery promises made to our customers. You will progress chase and regularly liaise with stakeholders, ensuring to communicate any deviation from the plan.
Duties - Production Planner
Planning the factory schedule to ensure customer commitments are met, but in a fashion that carefully balances service with the cost of manufacture.
Ensuring that the schedule is kept 'live' with regular updates to ensure good, current visibility within the company. This will entail regular communications with dealers to best time the arrival of vans.
Endeavouring to produce a fixed plan, so that there is a rolling 7-day period, in which the factory can make 'solid' plans. This will minimise uncertainty and the potential for mistakes.
Working closely with Procurement Manager and the Stores Coordinator to help in making sure supplies are in place to service the programme, while at the same time not keeping excessive inventory.
Ensuring any potential lateness issues are well communicated, the 'morning meeting' being one avenue to share this information. Within this element of responsibility, you shall continually progress chase to ensure the factory is well informed about risk to original promise dates.
Working in conjunction with the Operations Manager to ensure suitable, signed off instructions are issued to the factory.
Participating in the 'Contract Review' process, as required.
Aligning/readying sub-contractors as is required to satisfy the plan and to ensure no delays in the flow of work through the factory. This includes IVA's when required.
The Person - Production Planner
We seek candidates of graduate calibre, or alternatively those with a proven track record in planning manufacturing sites. You will be IT literate, ideally be experienced in ERP systems, have good communication skills and possess good mathematical / statistical skills. You will also be a fast learner and a problem solver who is able to initiate changes and improvements to the planning process in a fast faced, growing company.
