As a small, well-renown family owned housebuilder with a fantastic pedigree delivering new homes across Ipswich and the surrounding areas for nearly 50 years, this business has built a reputation for delivering quality, high-end homes and have firmly contributed to establishing several of the most sought after neighbourhoods in the area. Holding a strong local landbank and a detailed, methodical approach to building, they are among the most respected local builders in town and continue their tradition of producing a handful of high end homes a year to this day.
The Role:
Looking to strengthen their commercial capabilities, an exciting vacancy for a Quantity Surveyor has arisen. With a strong landbank in place and the need for overall business support as the firm gets busier, you'd be responsible overall for commercial delivery across prestigious developments local developments, ensuring that budgets are adhered to, profits are maximised and the business runs with a cost efficient ethos while continuing to deliver outstanding, quality homes and delivering total customer satisfaction. You'd also get the opportunity to get stuck into project management, programming, all areas of procurement and assist the directors with the day-to-day running of the business, all contributing to a robust, all-encompassing post.
Responsibilities:
- Hands-on cost management of a range high-end developments, working in tandem with the Directors and local external consultants.
- Forecast, monitor and maintain cash flow to ensure it is maximised effectively and projects run to budget.
- Attend and host key meetings internally and externally, maintaining professional standards and promoting the company's standards and values at all times.
- Report writing and subsequent presentation to Directors, demonstrating project progress financially.
- Be aware of, and take the lead on, contractual interests as they arise and ensure that delivery teams are at all times advised and aware of key requirements
- General Project Management, programming and day-to-day business administration duties.
- Effective communication with clients, suppliers, external consultants and colleagues through to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or an equivalent Construction-related qualification.
- Minimum 7 years previous experience within a development capacity, ideally traditional housebuilding with an SME or volume housebuilder.
