The Client
Our Client specialises in providing Fire Safety and Passive Fire Protection from project conception through construction to remedial works. This ranges from products that might be part of the building or installed to the building to enhance its fire protection system. They also offer qualified HS&E consultancy, expert witness services, training and guidance throughout. Due to vast expansion, they are looking to recruit a Regional Contracts Manager.

The Role
Reporting to the National Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring projects and contracts are completed safely, on time, to budget and to the required, scope, program and specification. You will control costs and keep construction projects on track from implementation right through to practical completion / project hand over. You will take responsibility for the overview of the day-to-day running and smooth operations of all sites and site labour and you will be the point of contact and oversee all communication between the Client and the company strictly adhering to the Health & Safety Policy and protocols at all times.
You will work from home initially but will be expected to report to the Clients Head Office in Nottingham once a fortnight and also conduct regular site visits. You will manage the London/Southern regions including Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex. Naturally, this may involve you staying away from home occasionally, the cost of which would be covered by the Client.
Responsibilities:
- Attending pre-start meetings with the clients
- Manage contracts from implementation to practical completion
- Understand & define project scope, goals & deliverables to ensure the project is delivered within budget & program
- Oversee all site managers/supervisors taking responsibility of all scope of works within
- Complete management of a direct labour and sub-contractors (including checking and signing off timesheets)
- To visit client sites to carry out additional surveys and produce detailed reports with costings for the client where applicable
- Maintain good working relationships with clients and site operatives
- Ensure all projects are ran within current legislation, to specification and compliance using the relevant British standards
- Ensure site Health and Safety requirements are adhered to and deliver toolbox talks)
- Managing multisite contracts across the country
- Ensure projects have continual material supplies and the correct levels of labour/sub-contract labour to be able to perform within budget and program
- Ensuring all method statements and risk assessments are completed and filed in the project folder as well as distributed to the relevant parties (this includes sub-contractors)
- Ensure all projects are registered on FIRAS/BM-trada before starting on site
- Ensuring budgets and programs are met in line with original quotations
- Effectively communicate project expectations to all team members and clients
Qualifications & Experience:
- Possess a background in Fire Protection (Desirable)
- CRB / DBS - Cleared / Full Driving Licence
- CSCS Card, SSSTS (NVQ Levels 2 & 3 In Passive Fire Protection - training can be offered if other skills are relevant)
- Knowledge of all passive fire protection applications including time taken to install, current market value and products - desirable not essential
- Ideally have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of fire risk assessments/building regulations/British Standards/Health and Safety Regulations and all current legislation
- Knowledge of how to run a project from initial enquiry to practical completion
- Knowledge of the procedures involved from initial enquiry to practical completion.
- Computer literate in software such as Microsoft Outlook Express, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft word and Power point. (Fulcrum, Office 365 & Bolster an advantage)
- Must hold the ability to identify and solve issues quickly, cost effectively and in a professional manner.
- Must be able to work on own initiative and make decisions weighing up costs and potential risk
- Clear confident communicator at all levels
- Must be commercially aware and client focused
- Good organisational skills / able to manage own workload
- Able to take ownership of projects and set goals as well as standards for the site workforce* Must be confident in supervising site teams from all aspects such as work quality
