My Client is one of the UK's largest 5-star house builders and provide Nationwide developments. Based in the Clients offices in the West Midlands and reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for producing accurate construction budgets and estimates for new build housing developments.
Taking-off quantities from drawings and preparing bill of quantities using standard quantity surveying techniques
Construction Budget preparation
Preparing estimates and abnormal costs from minimal information for sites which are under consideration for purchase.
Preparing Construction Budget for a project by taking-off quantities from Architects and Engineers drawings
Distributing the estimate budget to all relevant parties.
Keeping up to date with the latest changes to the standard specification and standard house types and making necessary changes in house
Being aware of rate changes by various trades for materials, plant and preliminary items and updating in house.
Following company policy and provide all information for inclusion in the construction budget package which is presented to the main board for approval before a project can commence
Assisting buyers and surveyors in sending out enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors during busy periods.
Assist in preparing valuations, cost reports or final accounts if required, therefore, knowledge of post contract quantity surveying duties would be an advantage.
Advising other departments on the cost of alternative design choices.
Liaising with internal departments including the Commercial Department, Land Department and the Design Department
Qualifications & Experience:
A proven track record of delivering estimates on residential new build developments.
Ability to use own initiative as well as working effectively as part of a team
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
First rate communication skills both written and verbal
Excellent attention to detail
Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively delegate as appropriate
Working experience of presenting technical and complex information
Good IT skills
Basic Salary - up to £59k (Depending on skill set, qualifications & experience)
