Our Client is a main contractor, established for over 50 years and operating predominantly in South Yorkshire. Their Client base includes many Public and Private Sector clients, with projects ranging from Education and Health, through to Social Housing and Luxury Homes. Due to expansion, they are looking to recruit a Senior Estimator based from our offices in South Yorkshire
Reporting to the Pre-Construction Director, you will be responsible for managing the production of accurate construction budgets and estimates for varying projects from new build housing & commercial schemes to Social Housing contracts.
Taking-off quantities from drawings and preparing bill of quantities using standard quantity surveying techniques
Construction Budget preparation
Preparing estimates and abnormal costs from minimal information for sites which are under consideration for purchase.
Preparing Construction Budget for a project by taking-off quantities from drawings
Distributing the estimate budget to all relevant parties.
Being aware of rate changes by various trades for materials, plant and preliminary items and updating, as necessary.
Following company policies and providing all information for inclusion in the construction budget package to be presented to the main board for approval
Assisting buyers and surveyors in sending out enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors.
Assist in preparing valuations, cost reports or final accounts if required.
Advising other departments on the cost of alternative design choices.
Liaising with internal departments including the Commercial Department, Land & Design Department
Qualifications & Experience:
A minimum of 10 years' experience of completing the full tender process to prepare tender submissions
Ability to use own initiative as well as working effectively as part of a team
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
First rate communication skills both written and verbal
Excellent attention to detail
Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively delegate as appropriate
Working experience of presenting technical and complex information
Good IT skills
