Top Tips from our Recruitment Consultants
6th February 2020
Here at Bromak we have many consultants who deal with a range of candidates every day who are looking for their perfect permanent role. We understand the whole process from creating the perfect CV, having a successful interview and finally filling roles with perfect candidates.
To help you with your search for your dream job our recruitment consultants want to share with you their top tips to secure your perfect role.
“Be prepared for your interview – research the company, make sure you have a clear understanding of the role/JD and prepare questions to ask at the end of the interview – and most important – Make a great first impression, do not be late for the interview!!”
Deena Mistry, Principal Consultant
“Do your homework on the client you’re going to meet and be fully prepared for your interview.”
Ryan Hayes, Principal Consultant
“If you’re unable to attend an interview or have a change of heart about an opportunity that you’ve been discussing then you should let your Recruitment Consultant know as soon as you can.
It might seem awkward, difficult or like you’re letting us down, but we’ll always be understanding to changes in personal circumstances and career goals.
Just remember, a name will always stick in a client’s head for longer if it’s for a bad reason and you never know, you might want us to approach that company for you again in the future.”
“Make sure you do your research on the company and their projects before turning up. Showing knowledge of the industry and the company will go a long way.”
Adam De-Ville, Recruitment Consultant
“Be honest about whether your CV has already been sent for the job – it wastes ours, the clients and your time. Format your CV with care. Make it clear and concise (multiple colours and fonts do not sell the CV better!) Ghosting is rude. it’s better to tell us the truth (no longer interested, counteroffer, miss-sold) rather than just ignoring our calls.”
Laura Murphy, Recruitment Consultant
“Make a targeted approach to your job search and work with a Recruitment Consultant(s) that you can trust. Take the time to allow a recruiter to get to know you, your motivations and ambitions, which will in turn mean they can find more relevant roles for you.”
Rupert Mullis, Senior Recruitment Consultant
“When registering with an agency, give them an accurate idea of the following:
- Your salary expectations
- How far you are willing to travel
- What sector you are ideally looking to work in etc.
The agency will work in line with the details you give them, and this will help them to find the right role for you.
If they place you in a role when ultimately it is not what you are looking for – it will merely waste yours and the Clients time.
If the agency ask you if you have experience in a particular field, i.e. fire stopping works or fit out which is not showing on your CV, don’t say you have that experience if you don’t because if it is a particular question the agency have asked you, it means the Client has specifically asked for it and you will more than likely be asked for examples in your interview.”
Debbie Stilwell, Managing Consultant
