Women working in the construction sector were celebrated recently, at an awards ceremony sponsored by Bromak.
The Women in Construction Awards, in its sixth year, provides a showcase for the brightest and best female achievers in the house building and wider construction industry. This year’s event was held on March 14 at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Ground.
Bromak Training sponsored the Best Training Scheme award which was won by Blackburne House in Liverpool, recognising the contribution Blackburne House has made to providing valuable and high quality training to female tradeswomen.
Andrea Rushton, Head of BH Maintenance Ltd and Construction at Blackburne House, commented: ‘”This is a fantastic award for the Construction Training Academy, and the Women In Construction Awards raise a massive amount of awareness for Women working in the industry. In the UK construction industry today, women represent 10 per cent of the total workforce, of that 10 per cent only 1 per cent are out on site on the tools. BH Maintenance has recruited trades-women to train, mentor and inspire the students of the Construction Training Academy, providing valuable work based learning and peer to peer support.“
Former British Olympic champion, Sally Gunnell OBE, was the guest speaker and took time out to pose in front of the camera with the Bromak team, below.
